Kenny Florian - We've got Kurt Pellegrino in town to help me with me preparation and my sparring, and we've been stepping it up with the sparring the last week or so. Kurt's from New Jersey, and like a lot of the fighters on the east coast, he's starting to come into his own in the UFC. We're really starting to come around and since we've been exposed to the sport, we've really been passionate about it and trained really hard for the fights Publ.Date : Fri, 25 Jul 2008 07:02:00 EST
Roger Huerta - I left Albuquerque after a great week of training there, and came back to Minneapolis with Donald Cerrone this week. Justin Hagen, my strength and conditioning coach, flew in from LA, and Leonard Garcia flew in as well. On Sunday afternoon we went over to Dave Menne's gym, and I brought in a lot of the Augsburg wrestlers I used to wrestle with - Jamell Tidwell, Ryan Stroud - and another kid, Derek Sikora, a Division II national champion. Thomas Gerbasi, UFC - Exciting lightweight contenders Kurt Pellegrino and Thiago Tavares, fresh off bouts against Nate Diaz and Matt Wiman, respectively, that made UFC.com's best of the first half of 2008 list, will look to put on yet another memorable outing when they meet on September 6th's UFC 88 card in Atlanta. Thomas Gerbasi, UFC - Three of mixed martial arts' biggest stars - former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin, former PRIDE two-division champ Dan Henderson, and longtime welterweight contender Karo Parisyan - will be pushed to the limit in bouts just made official for September 6th's UFC 88 card in Atlanta. Rhett Butler, UFC - All the signs pointed away from this line of work for Jared Rollins; after all, it just wasn't what he grew up with. Martial arts, pugilism, wrestling - these words held no meaning in the Rollins home and it would be even stranger for the prodigal son to seek this form of athleticism anyway. After all, as the son of a preacher father and a mother who is a teacher, with no siblings to bang and roll with, who would have thought the youngest Rollins would seek the cage as his stage. Jon Fitch - I know it's no surprise, but more training this week - training, training, training. I did make an appearance last weekend for a signing at OTM Fight Shop in San Jose, and I went to a bar called Britannia Arms here and watched the UFC fights Saturday night. Publ.Date : Tue, 22 Jul 2008 07:01:00 EST
Michael DiSanto, UFC - Amazing. Superhuman. Unbeatable. After watching Anderson Silva decimate a very tough James Irvin in a mere 61 seconds, the superlatives just don't do him justice anymore. The UFC Middleweight Champion's debut at light heavyweight was so dominant that he may have cleared the way for more speculation about possible fights against the much bigger warriors in the 205 lb world than for those in his native division. Publ.Date : Mon, 21 Jul 2008 13:09:00 EST
Thomas Gerbasi, UFC - UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva didn't see his pound for pound crown tarnished at all in his UFC light heavyweight debut against James Irvin tonight at The Pearl at The Palms. Instead, his 61 second knockout win showed that if anything, he's getting better and more fearsome with each outing. Publ.Date : Sun, 20 Jul 2008 00:03:00 EST
Thomas Gerbasi, UFC - There was good news and bad news for Brandon 'The Truth' Vera in his light heavyweight debut at The Pearl at The Palms Saturday night. The good was that he got the unanimous decision victory over Reese Andy. The bad, he didn't get the definitive finish he wanted after a tougher than expected cut from heavyweight. Publ.Date : Sun, 20 Jul 2008 00:01:00 EST
Thomas Gerbasi, UFC - Veteran knockout artist Rory Markham lived up to his reputation in his first UFC bout, spectacularly taking out Brodie Farber with a kick to the head in just 97 seconds of their UFC Fight Night preliminary bout at The Pearl at The Palms in Las Vegas.
